Traditional maternity portraits are typically done in a studio, involving lots of bare skin and creative draping. When asked if I offered maternity I frequently answered "well, I would do urban maternity but not the traditional stuff" which lead to confused stares. I currently have a slew of existing clients that are pregnant (can we give a SQUEE for all those newborns I'll be photographing in early 2010?) so I was thrilled with this mom to be agreed to come let me test out some ideas on her.
You may remember this pair of legs from the shoot I did for them last March (before I changed my business name) which included their two dogs.
Well, here they are now, 7 months into her first pregnancy with a little boy on the way. I can't wait to meet him!!! And yes, she likes purple!
I have to include this next one because of the funny story. The Mom was laying on the sidewalk next to this painted word "YOU" when a police van came by - and stopped and asked if everything was okay. Apparently there had been some incident around the corner and they were just driving around to make sure there were no other problems.
I took this next one, then turned to the Dad to say "it is not fair that she look this good 7 months pregnant". His response "Yeah, she's a hottie". Too funny!
I was really impressed with how comfortable she seems in her pregnant body. She moved around with ease and was up for anything.

From Amazon: The women's blogging revolution has taken hold, and this inspirational and practical guide is a celebration of one of the leading women's social networking sites on the web. The idea for Kirtsy.com was born during the 2007 Super Bowl, when the self-described "Kirtsy chicks" tuned out the game and tuned into their collective desire to aggregate cool, relevant, interesting, and practical content provided by women for women. Kirtsy.com quickly became a place to find cool things, read smart scoop, connect with exceptional people, and learn about fab products. This guide highlights some of the best postings on the site, including tips and information on travel and leisure, fashion and style, family and parenting, and politics. In addition to illustrating the site's best content, it also tells the story of how Kirtsy.com became such a huge hit with women around the globe.
Want to meet some of the great women that helped put this book together? We are hosting their book release party at our loft and you're invited! Many of the contributors will be available to sign your book! So come have a glass of wine, meet some great ladies, and take a little eye candy home with you.

I had the pleasure of photographing these three boys during our micro mini sessions on Saturday. The weather was fantastic and these kids were all so fun.
Seriously, could this little guy be any cuter? I love his baby converse sneakers and orange striped sweater. Great job mom dressing him.
His big brother was hilarious! He was quite the actor during our session and I can just hear "here's looking at you kid" when I see him with his hands shooting me. Ha!
And this little guy! Also soooo sweet. Mom picked a great color palette for him with that muted blue mixed with the dark red. I loved it. He seemed super interested in any car or truck that drove by during our session.
When I saw mom pull out this shirt I KNEW I had to go around the block to the restaurant that has this red door. I got the OK from them to take some pictures (they were open so I didn't want to just block their doorway) and we snapped away!
Our recent 15 minute Micro Mini sessions were such a big hit that we've decided to do one more day of them this holiday season....on Saturday November 7th. We'll be offering our $99 sessions at three locations: Creekside Park in The Woodlands, the Bubblegum Tree Loft near downtown Houston, and Town and Country Village in Houston. To learn more and to book your session visit our November 7th Micro Mini Session Information Page.
Please note: Micro Mini Sessions are available only for a single child with our without parents included. Siblings require booking an additional session time or consider a full length portrait session. We are currently offering full length sessions with our associates for $250 if you book before November 1st for sessions taking place November 1 - December 5.
And because there is some rule about blog posts without pictures here are two of my kiddos from Zoo Boo this weekend at the Houston Zoo. Halloween Saturday Oct 31st is the last day of Zoo Boo - check it out if you have a chance. So fun!
Yesterday I had a super nice family come in with their three boys. Yep, they have their hands full with that crowd. I'm not going to show any family pictures because I don't know what they want to use for holiday cards but instead will just show an individual of each boy! Love their striped shirts!
I love his big bright eyes. Kids around that 18 month old mark have those great giant eyes!
This little guy cracked me up - he wanted to make sure I got plenty of photos of him!
One, two, three, hike! Is that right? Gah, my boy hasn't started sports yet. This little guy kept getting down into this football pose so I just worked with it. Ha!
I photographed these girls two years ago and boy have they changed.
Here they are two years ago in their red dresses:
And here they are now!
They changed into tutus and luckily they had their jean jackets too because it was actually a little chilly! What a difference these girls are wearing the same tutus as the girls in the previous post but with a COMPLETELY different feel to their pictures.
One of my favorite parts of my job is getting to follow along as these kids grow up! What fun!
Our Urban Princess sessions at the loft near downtown Houston was a HUGE hit. First, let's start with the decorations...
Add in the fantastic Baby Cha Cha Boutique and Fantasy Celebrations...
And we have some of the most beautiful little girls around. Introducing our Urban Princesses in their tutus from Baby Cha Cha!
It is not too late to get in on the fun. We are offering our Woodland Fairy mini sessions on Monday October 5th at Market Street in The Woodlands. We'll be setup in the central park area with lots of tutus to choose from for your portraits. Since we won't be indoors we won't have Fantasy Celebrations with us that day but we'll still have treats for the kids. Visit the Woodland Fairy information page to find out more about how you can sign up for this special event!
This little guy came in this morning and thankfully the rain held off! It was so nice to go out and take some pictures without it being five million degrees!
He started off a little shy and wanted to stick close to his mama.
A few games later and he started to warm up!The time went by super quickly! What a sweet boy. I can't wait to see him back again soon!
