Good Things Come in Threes - revisited | Houston Baby Photography

Remember these sweet little triplet boys I photographed at the NICU in November?  Well they went home shortly after their pictures and mom was feeling ready to have me come tackle them at home for some new pictures!

First, let me point out how absolutely fab mom looks with her three sweet babies!

The boys are now about 5 months old but their adjusted age is only 2 months. So they are at that awkward age to photograph.  They can't hold their heads up yet and they don't sit up yet but they were so sweet during their session and made LOTS of eye contact.

This was baby S then.  He was a good eater then, and he is still a good eater now.  I saw him knock back a bottle faster than his two brothers!    He was so active during our pictures and loves to KICK.  He's going to be one busy boy!

Then there was baby W.  He didn't care much for having his picture taken last time.  And he wasn't that into it this time although I did get him to smile a bit for me!  When I didn't have the camera he was giving me GIANT smiles.  So sweet.  Here he is now - a big boy!!

Last and certainly not least...Baby A!!!  He was the last one to come home from the hospital, and is smaller than his two brothers.  But oh my!!! He is so alert.  I remember when I did the pictures at the NICU he was all wide eyed taking everything in.

...and he hasn't changed.  He was wide eyed and relaxed during his part of the session.  He had excellent eye contact the entire time.  And he listened to me just talk and talk! 

Isn't it amazing how much he's grown up!  And he has the finest blond hair...so sweet.

I really enjoyed hanging out with these guys this morning.  Mom handles it all with such grace and beauty.  I would be a basket case, for sure.  Mom offered to make me a sandwich (the shoot lasted just shy of 4 hours)!  I thought, surely she has enough to do with these three!

And because I can't resist, another of mom with her boys together!

7 Days New | Houston Newborn Photographer

This little guy was wide awake when I arrived this morning.  At 7 days old he had already had a solid 6 hours of sleep the night before so he took a little while to settle down.

 

After some snuggle time with mom and dad he finally started to relax and settle down (that, and several feedings!).

We moved into the family music room.  I LOVE that they have a music room.  I'm sure they'll have many sweet family events around the piano!  I loved the painting hanging over the piano too!

Dad is in a band.  He had a couple of guitars hanging around.  And I couldn't resist putting the baby in one of them!

Gah!  Super cute. It was so hard to narrow it down to a few pictures for the sneak peek.

By the end we finally wore him out and he rested for us.  We think he also liked being swaddled.

I've photographed mom and dad as a pre-baby couple, mom when she was pregnant, and now little baby first baby boy.  I love being a part of their special family moments!

Good Things Come in Threes

I barely know where to begin with this one.  Yesterday I had the opportunity to go in and meet a set of triplets who are currently living in the NICU at Texas Children's Hospital.  I had originally hoped to go in a couple of weeks ago but when my son had a fever I decided to wait and make sure it didn't turn into something worse - or that I didn't catch it also. They were born on Labor Day and will be heading home soon!   Maybe even ahead of their original due date!

I found the NICU to be surprisingly peaceful.  Lights are kept low and the babies are kept in groups of 4 so it it seemed very cozy and safe.  For you shutterbugs I really worked the low light capabilities of my camera (going up to as high as ISO 3200) and I had the 50mm 1.2L and 24-70mm 2.8L lenses.

My visit coincided with their feeding time so one by one the babies would be changed, then mom would hold them for their feeding. In the couple of hours I spent with them I was surprised at how much each of them has already developed their little personalities.  About halfway through I asked mom their birth order and in my mind I already had it right based on what I saw of them during my visit! 

The first born is a rule follower: sleep when I'm supposed to sleep, eat when I'm supposed to eat, and yeah, I'll be cute for your pictures.  The middle born was more sensitive to the world around him and wasn't afraid to let us know when he was unhappy.  And the "youngest" was much more laid back, taking his time with everything, going with the flow, and alert and checking out the world around him.  It'll be interesting to see if these roles stay true a year from now!

This was only the second time mom was able to hold all three boys!  The nurse was super sweet and got a portable monitor so we could have all three boys together.  Here they are in birth order (right to left). 

See, even in these pictures you can see their different personalities (one sleeping, one soothing, one watching).

By the way, Mom is simply beautiful and it was wonderful to watch her with each of her boys.  I drove home smiling after being around such precious little beings.

Party of 3 - Boys!

Our Associate Photographer, Valerie, finished off the month of October with this treat on Halloween morning...a family with three boys!!!

Starting with the two older boys!  LOOK at that height difference.  I love it. (a little texture added to give this one a vintage feel).

Add in a baby brother and this mom will have her hands full for years to come keeping up with these three!

 

And one more...the middle boy because the middle child always seems to get lost in the shuffle!  Look at the sparkle in his eyes!

At home in Pearland...

This morning I got to spend the morning photographing this sweet one week old boy in his home in Pearland.

Reflecting Newborns

This little guy is baby number 4 in his family so he has no choice but to be agreeable.  A little older than my typical newborn session (4 weeks old), he really didn't want to go to sleep!  He fought us but in the end, we won! 

I know sometimes the moms think I'm a little crazy running around in their house saying "oh, we could do some pictures here..." and this was no different.  I was especially excited by this beautiful buffet in the dining room with a mirror over the top, and a beautiful stone fireplace.

And finally, we won and got him to sleep.  He was so precious!

My Newborn Friend | Maryland Newborn Photogrpher

I spent Easter weekend in Maryland visiting with friends and taking pictures, of course!  First stop, Hanover,MD which is between Baltimore and Washington, DC.

One of my friends has a two week old baby who is irresistible to the ladies already.  He is so sweet and cuddly.

He did not like being naked but settled down as soon as we let him wear a onesie for his pictures. 

Add another boy!

I was thrilled that I was going to meet this little guy at only 3 months old!  The last time I saw this family in August I photographed big brother and mom was expecting but since they live in Colorado we thought it would be a while before I got the meet the new addition.  But a last minute trip to Houston meant a visit to my Loft!  Normally I photograph newborns when they are about 2 weeks old and an older newborn certainly has different challenges but he was sweet and has beautiful big blue eyes like his brother.  It was so nice out today we even took him outside for a few photos.  He as fast asleep inside his carseat within seconds of mom putting him back in...getting your picture take is hard work!!!

I look forward to photographing the brothers together next fall when mom returns to the area to visit family again!

The Slow Return

Things are slowly starting to return to normal.  We've got some big things in the works so we are busy behind the scenes getting ready for an awesome 2009!  We are sprucing up the loft, getting an updated website ready, and getting our pricing updates finalized.  Look for some big announcements soon!  In the meantime, I'll leave you with a few more pictures of the newborn I photographed on New Year's Eve (she is so adorable).
