A New Look for Maternity

Traditional maternity portraits are typically done in a studio, involving lots of bare skin and creative draping.  When asked if I offered maternity I frequently answered "well, I would do urban maternity but not the traditional stuff" which lead to confused stares.  I currently have a slew of existing clients that are pregnant (can we give a SQUEE for all those newborns I'll be photographing in early 2010?) so I was thrilled with this mom to be agreed to come let me test out some ideas on her.

You may remember this pair of legs from the shoot I did for them last March (before I changed my business name) which included their two dogs.

Well, here they are now, 7 months into her first pregnancy with a little boy on the way.  I can't wait to meet him!!!  And yes, she likes purple!

I have to include this next one because of the funny story.  The Mom was laying on the sidewalk next to this painted word "YOU" when a police van came by - and stopped and asked if everything was okay.    Apparently there had been some incident around the corner and they were just driving around to make sure there were no other problems.

I took this next one, then turned to the Dad to say "it is not fair that she look this good 7 months pregnant".  His response "Yeah, she's a hottie".  Too funny!

I was really impressed with how comfortable she seems in her pregnant body.  She moved around with ease and was up for anything.

Couple of Love Birds

My dear friend is in a long distance relationship.  My husband and I dated long distance so I know the anticipation of the visit, and the glee of the time together.  So when her boy came for a visit this week I knew I wanted to take them out for some pictures of them together that they could enjoy during the times that they are apart.

I knew I didn't want to do traditional couples pictures for them because they are anything but traditional.  She's a photographer too and he's an entertainment writer.  As you can imagine, they are hilarious to be around and their absolute joy of being together is obvious.

I knew I wanted to do some fun stuff with these two and when I was packing up my bag to get ready for the pictures I came across a couple of matchbox cars I keep handy for little boys.  Well, hello matchbox car race!!!

 

I also wanted to make sure I got at least a little of the Houston skyline in and found this great little spot.  Now, it was about a million degrees, humid, and we were in full sun but I think they were pretty brave about it all.

 

With great love comes great happiness...

 

An Adorable Couple | Houston Engagement Photographer

This adorable couple came in this morning for an engagement mini session.  They had nothing specific in mind so we just wandered around the neighborhood.

A little texture never hurt anything...

One of my favs.  Yes, I have a thing for pictures of feet.  Plus, I LOVE the star tattoo on her foot.  HOT!

Seriously, how cute are they?

I told him to whisper something that would make her laugh.  I think he said "Smile with your eyes".  Thank Tyra Banks for the inspiration.

See, grown ups can play peek-a-boo too!  They were so much fun!!!

The wind really picked up when we were on the side of the building. It made her dress whirl around.

I had such a great time with these too.  They were so FUNNY!  I wish them the best for their wedding later this summer!

Some babies have four legs...

This adorable couple bid on a session I donated to a fund raising auction and while they don't yet have any children they do have two beautiful (and large) dogs that rule their lives. I had so much fun photographing them this afternoon and I'm glad they came down to the loft!
